Default New to PSP , interested in obtaining one a few questions

hola PSP team from OZ , im interested in one for a few things but i have a few questions.

Im thinking of walking into my local EBgames and picking one up but i dont want BS problemos with being bricked and other nasties are there models to avoid ?

I have a DSL connection at home , can i share it with the PSP ? i want to use it on the Train going to work and on my Lunch Break possibly a Wireless Router or something like that ?

are there any apps to play DivX XviD H.264 on a TV at full resolution with this cable ? ......i dont want to re-encode my DivX XviD files at a new Res , some are 624 x 352 WS , 704 x 400 WS , 640 x 352 WS , 576 x 336 WS

Buy AV Stereo Cable (Sony PSP Slim & Lite) - Order Now!

is it possible to Infra Red remote control Zoomplayer , Winamp etc on my PC with the PSP ? i have Girder app and can get a USB IR Dongle

possible more questions later

any info helps

No, no models to avoid , just get one lol.

Yeah if you have a wireless router at home, you can connect your PSP to it, and use the browser on that .
Work journeys are the best reason to have a PSP imo, I used to play games or watch movies/videos all the time to and from work.
There is an app which lets you play AVIs, BUT, it's not very good, so you're better off re-encoding sorry. If you know where to look, someone probably will have already converted it though.
Also, with regards to infra-red, you would need a PSP phat as the infra-red feature was left out of the Slim and Lite.
There is an app which makes use of the infra-red on the phat PSP, but you need custom firmware (so you'll have to downgrade and install custom firmware on the PSP you get), whether it can control PC or not idk. I know it can some TVs.
